Paradise Killer

There’s a new trailer for Paradise Killer, a surreal 90’s inspired first-person murder mystery that looks absolutely bonkers.

After “Paradise” is killed on the sun-soaked “synthetic rock” known as Paradise Island, you play as Lady Love Dies in an attempt to figure out who dun’ it n’ that.

According to the game’s official website, Paradise Island floats on an ocean “in another reality” and is “filled with lunatics, psychopaths and a thousand secrets”.

Some of those “lunatics and psychopaths” include what appears to be a four armed robot, a man with a bright pink mohawk and a red skeleton with a horn in his skull. The one thing they all share in common? They’re all incredibly sexy. Like. There’s buff dudes for days here.

Don’t even get me started on that Skeleton.

Paradise Killer looks to combine the recently released Murder by Numbers with a touch of Killer Seven thrown in for good measure. There’s something very mid-2000’s about its aesthetic and UI design that screams “underappreciated Japanese PS2” title.

I mean that in a good way.

Interestingly, there doesn’t appear to be one specific killer, the game allowing you to accuse anyone as long as you can justify your reasoning for doing so. With its alternate reality location and cast of weird and wonderful characters, the ability to effectively build your own murder mystery sounds both wonderfully inventive and thematically appropriate.

The website also includes the line “UNDERSTAND THE DEPTHS OF DEMONIC DEGENERACY” which – I mean – if the intention of marketing is to get me to buy the game then this website has done its job in one single sentence. Bravo.

Paradise Killer is coming to the PC this summer.
